~1 adj only before noun remaining after all the rest has been used, eaten etc (Any leftover vegetables can be used to make a soup.) ~2 n 1 leftovers food that has not been eaten at the end of a meal (Give the leftovers to the dog.) 2 an object, habit, method etc that remains from an earlier time, even though you would expect it to have gone (They still slept with the lights on, a leftover from more dangerous times.)
